Beauty and elegance in every weave!  

    To our amazement, we encountered elderly men and women weaving on pit looms in the modest sheds of their backyards. These looms, partially below ground level, represent an age-old tradition. However, the rise of powerlooms has left these artisans struggling, forcing them to work for meager wages or sell their exquisite creations at unfairly low margins.

    Initially, we aimed to launch in 2020. But as we all know, the global COVID-19 lockdown brought unprecedented challenges. Despite the uncertainty, we remained resilient, assuring the weavers of our unwavering commitment to support them. Although weaving continued, shipping—both domestic and international—became a significant hurdle. We are deeply grateful to our customers, whose understanding, patience, and support provided us with the strength to persevere.

    In 2021, we expanded our horizons, connecting with traditional weavers specializing in Chanderi, Soft Silk, Kanchipuram, and Pochampally techniques. We also collaborated with artists skilled in Madhubani, Mural, Kalamkari, and Contemporary fabric painting. Additionally, we worked alongside talented block makers, who carve intricate designs into wooden blocks used for block printing. This journey of discovery and collaboration has been profoundly rewarding and fulfilling.

    Etre Eka is proud to be one among many initiatives dedicated to reviving the artistry of handloom weavers and traditional artisans. We have a humble appeal to make:
